An elephant was saved on Saturday, after it became stuck in a well in Isiolo, Kenya.

Video obtained by the Associated Press showed the dehydrated elephant being given water during the rescue operation.

Rescuers dug around the elephant and pulled it out of the hole with the aid of ropes and three cars.

After almost four hours, the operation was successful.

The rescue was a collaboration between Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, the Northern Rangelands Trust, Save the Elephants and the local community.

A spokesperson from the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy said that rangers are continuing to monitor the elephant, which is reported to be in good health.
