Stop us if you've heard this before: A New England sports team was victimized by an inadvertent whistle.

Everyone remembers that fateful whistle that took away a potential Danny Amendola touchdown in the New England Patriots' recent game against the Buffalo Bills.

Apparently the NFL isn't the only league with whistle-happy officials, however. In the second half of the Boston Celtics' game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, guard Avery Bradley raced after a loose ball and appeared well on his way to a layup, or a trip to the free throw line at the very least.

That is, until referee Derrick Collins put an end to all that.

Collins blew the play dead thinking the Spurs had committed a backcourt violation, negating Bradley's fast break attempt and taking potential Celtics points off the board.

Fortunately for Boston, the team kept possession, and Jae Crowder drilled a 19-foot jumper to prevent head coach Brad Stevens from completely losing his mind.
