The St. Louis Rams will play host to the struggling San Francisco 49ers on Sunday as 9.5-point betting favorites as Week 8 NFL odds arrive at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com
The 3-3 Rams took sole possession of second place in the NFC West last weekend with a 24-6 win over the Cleveland Browns, picking up the against-the-spread (ATS) victory as 6-point home chalk.
St. Louis now carries a 2-1 straight up (SU) record at home into Sunday afternoon's 49ers vs. Rams betting matchup at the Edward Jones Dome, and is a respectable 5-3 SU and ATS in their past eight home dates.
The 2-5 Niners' dismal campaign continued last weekend in a 20-3 home loss to Seattle. San Francisco is winless SU in their last five on the road, but are 6-2 SU in their last eight visits to St. Louis, 4-4 ATS.
The Seahawks, meanwhile, will try to even their SU record at 4-4 when they visit the fading Dallas Cowboys as 5.5-point road favorites.
Seattle's win over the 49ers halted a two-game SU losing skid and marked their first road victory of the season, but they have recorded just two ATS wins in their last 10, and just 20 points per game over their last four.
The Cowboys are 0-4 SU and ATS since losing quarterback Tony Romo to injury and have surrendered an average of 26.3 points per game this season, ranking them 24th in the NFL. But Dallas has posted SU wins in their last three at home against the Seahawks according to the OddsShark NFL Database, and a 6-2 ATS record in their last eight meetings overall.
The New England Patriots will be aiming for a seventh straight win when they host the revitalized Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football as 9-point betting favorites.
The Patriots overcame a four-point fourth quarter deficit on Sunday in their 30-23 win over the New York Jets to extend their lead atop the AFC East to two games, but failed to pick up the ATS win as 7-point favorites.
Miami dominated the Houston Texans in a lopsided 44-26 win on the weekend, claiming their second straight victory following three consecutive SU and ATS losses, but are a dismal 2-8 SU in their last 10 against the Patriots, 3-6-1 ATS.
In other NFL Week 8 betting action, the Green Bay Packers are 2.5-point road favorites against the Denver Broncos in a battle of undefeated clubs, while the 6-0 Carolina Panthers are 7-point chalk against the Indianapolis Colts, and the Giants visit the New Orleans Saints as 3.5-point underdogs.
