Steven Gerrard knows he's one of the lucky ones, as his life and career could have turned out differently.

Gerrard revealed Friday one of his biggest regrets is not putting more effort into his formal education. Gerrard discussed his lack of academic qualifications in an address to the the Los Angeles Galaxy's academy players.

Gerrard played 17-plus years in Liverpool's first team before joining the Galaxy in July. Gerrard's on-field resume boasts a wealth of honors, and he enjoys the lifestyle his healthy salary has provided him and his family over the years. Yet, he still feels like he's missing something important in his life.

Gerrard, 35, still has time to pursue academic qualifications. If he decides to go down that route again, something tells us he'll put every ounce of effort into his schoolwork and taste a new type of success.
