FOXBORO, Mass. -- The toughest day of the year has arrived for NFL teams.

The New England Patriots must trim their roster to 53 players by Saturday at 4 p.m. They Patriots currently have 66 players on their roster, but since LeGarrette Blount begins the season with a one-game suspension, the team team only needs to cut 12 guys.

The Patriots released quarterback Ryan Lindley, running back Tony Creecy, wide receivers Zach D'Orazio and DaVaris Daniels, offensive linemen Ryan Groy, Caylin Hauptmann and Chris Martin, defensive linemen A.J. Pataiali'i and Casey Walker and linebacker James Morris on Friday.

The Patriots practice at 12:50 p.m., so it will be interesting to see if they make their cuts before or after their first session of the regular season. They could elect to keep 10 players around to form a scout team, like they would have in the regular season with a practice squad.

Stay here as we track all of the Patriots' cuts.
