It certainly wasn't a perfect outing for the Boston Bruins on Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but it was a positive step forward after their loss earlier in the week to the Vancouver Canucks.
The Bruins scored two second-period goals at TD Garden, then got the best of the Blue Jackets in the shootout to earn a 3-2 win.
"It's a big two points for our hockey club," coach Claude Julien said on "Bruins Overtime Live" after the game. "But I think that's about where it stands, and the rest -- we have to be a lot more intense, and if we're a lot more intense I think our execution will get better.
"So it's certainly not a game to remember, but the two points are important."
