CALGARY – One man is recovering in hospital after being hit by a truck near Chinook Centre on Monday.

It happened in the area of Macleod Trail and 61 Avenue S.W. at around 10:30 p.m.

Police said the victim was struck while walking in an unmarked crosswalk. He was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and tried to help the victim.

Officers said alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in the collision.

It's unknown if charges will be laid.
