DeMarcus Cousins came this close to doing something very stupid Monday night.
The Sacramento Kings mercurial star's better judgment took over as he avoided throwing what could have been a devastating punch to Oklahoma City big man Steven Adams.
The two players got tangled up on the floor after battling for the reboudn as Adams -- known for his ability to get under the skin of opponents -- was in no rush to let Cousins run up the floor. A clearly frustrated Cousins wound up to throw a punch and came real close to doing so before thinking better of it and keeping his hands to himself.
If Cousins actually followed through and delivered what would have been a vicious blow to the back of Adams' head, we could be looking at the biggest sports story of the year. Instead, it's a sign of dare we say maturity from the big man. Cousins had another fine night, too, scoring 35 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the Kings' loss.
