Evan Turner wasn't involved in any All-Star festivities over the weekend, but he received a pretty high honor from his alma mater Tuesday night.

Turner, who played three seasons at Ohio State from 2007 to 2010, had his No. 21 jersey retired before the Buckeyes' game against rival Michigan at Value City Arena in Columbus.

The Boston Celtics swingman certainly was deserving of the honor; during his junior season in 2009-10, he beat out Kentucky's John Wall to win the Naismith College Player of the Year Award and helped OSU reach its first Sweet Sixteen since 2007.

Turner was full of gratitude while addressing the crowd in a pregame speech, but he also managed to slip in a playful line at the very end to Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, who made the trip to Columbus to watch his player get honored.

"Danny Ainge, thanks for coming," Turner said. "In July, you can pay me all you want."

Turner became just the fifth player to have his number retired at Ohio State and joined Celtics legend John Havlicek in the arena's rafters.
