Rob Font will be taking on a new opponent for his hometown fight in UFC Fight Night Boston at TD Garden.

The fighter from Leominster, Mass., will take on newcomer Joey Gomez in his early prelim bantamweight bout, a UFC source told NESN.com on Thursday. Font was previously scheduled to take on Patrick Williams, who is injured.

Font, who fights out of Sityodtong in Somerville, Mass., is 11-1 in UFC. Gomez also hails from New England being from Hollis, N.H., and is making his UFC debut in the Jan. 17 fight. Gomez is 6-0 in non-UFC fights in his professional career.
