Aaron Dobson's season is over.

The Patriots have placed the wide receiver on injured reserve three days after he reportedly suffered a high ankle injury in New England's 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bill on Monday, which effectively ends his season. The team also announced it has signed safety Dewey McDonald to the 53-man roster.

Dobson played in eight games this season and made three starts. The 24-year-old had 13 receptions for 141 yards.

The Patriots claimed McDonald off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 28 but later was cut on Nov. 12 and signed to the practice squad on Nov. 14. He was later cut from the practice squad on Nov. 18. The 25-year-old played in two games with New England before he was cut.
