Step-by-step, the Boston Bruins young core of defensemen are getting better.

The Bruins played one of their stronger periods of the year Tuesday against the Phoenix Coyotes thanks largely in part to improvements in the new transitional system the team is implementing this season. Bruins blue liners quickly moved the puck up ice in the first 20 minutes, catching defenders on their heels before any forecheck could be established.
