Hanley Ramirez is heading to the disabled list.

The Boston Red Sox left fielder was placed on the 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation before Boston took on the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. However, the trip is retroactive to Aug. 27, and he is eligible to return Sept. 11.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski and interim coach Torey Lovullo addressed Ramirez's injury situation Saturday.

"He's not going to hit and he's not going to throw until the pain subsides," Dombrowski said on "Red Sox First Pitch" before Saturday's game. "He can go out on the field and work a little bit with his glove and his footwork, so he can still do that. ... But we're not going to get him out there to throw or hit until the pain subsides."
