We now know why. The B's announced Wednesday "that defenseman Dennis Seidenberg is scheduled to undergo a lumbar microdiscectomy on Thursday, September 24 to repair a lumbar spine disc herniation. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Louis Jenis at Massachusetts General Hospital. Seidenberg is expected to make a full recovery and will be sidelined approximately eight weeks." Seidenberg missed about half of the 2013-14 season after suffering a torn ACL. He returned for the 2014-15 campaign and played in all 82 games, tallying 14 points (three goals, 11 assists). The 34-year-old defenseman has spent the last five-plus seasons with the Bruins.
