The Pittsburgh Steelers scored a touchdown with 2 seconds to play Thursday night that, on the surface, seemed fairly innocuous. That is unless, of course, you had money riding on the game.
Gamblers across the country were sweating out the final minutes of the NFL's first game of the season, especially those playing the seven-point line. When Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger found Antonio Brown for an 11-yard touchdown to cut the New England Patriots' lead to 28-21, it really threw a wrinkle into things.
That last-second touchdown ended up wreaking havoc on plenty of bettors. At the very least, the late touchdown led to a push, which was good news for those who took the Steelers and the points but a heart-crushing end to those who picked New England to cover.
ESPN's Darren Rovell dug a little deeper to explore the widespread impact of that seemingly meaningless touchdown.
Oh, and yes, we know. It totally screwed up your fantasy matchup, too.
