Von Miller is $8,681 poorer.
The Denver Broncos linebacker was fined by the NFL for an illegal hit on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the third quarter of the Patriots' 30-24 overtime loss Sunday in Denver, Miller told the Denver Post.
Miller was flagged for a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty in the game, a fine that normally carries a $17,363 penalty, after leaping at an already-sacked Brady on the ground. Miller's fine is the regular amount fined by the NFL for late hits.
"They got me," Miller told the Post. "I am going to appeal, though."
Miller was not flagged or fined for leaving his feet and launching at Brady later in the game.
