Two additional criminal charges have been laid against a 14-year-old female student who allegedly stabbed nine people inside a Toronto-area high school last month.

Durham Regional Police say the accused faces two new counts of assault with a weapon to go along with 15 offences she is already charged with.

The charges were laid at a bail hearing Tuesday morning, police said in a media release.

The student, whose identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested on Feb. 23 after nine people were stabbed at Dunbarton High School in Pickering, Ont. east of Toronto as students were heading to class.

Police say two staff members who were hurt intervened and managed to stop the female student from inflicting further injuries.
