MONTREAL--Quebec athletes had a chance to get closer to the podium this Saturday.
The Canadian Olympic Committee in partnership with RBC held the RBC Training Ground Camp at the National Sports Institute of Quebec and was open to any athlete between the ages of 14 and 25. Officials were is essentially looking for a "diamond in the rough."
Up to 100 local young athletes, from a wide range of sports, performed a battery of tests -- speed, power, strength and endurance -- in front of the Canadian Olympic Committee and amateur sports officials, in the hopes of being discovered.
The Montreal Training Ground event is one out of four taking place across the country.
Vancouver held the first Training on Feb. 20, Toronto will have theirs on March 5 and Haligonians can be tested on March 12.

Up to 10 athletes will be identified at each regional event to receive funding, resources, coaching and/or mentorship necessary for their Olympic journey. Four top performers from across Canada will also receive a trip to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
