TORONTO – Emergency Task Force officers have surrounded an Etobicoke bank after a man was shot during an apparent robbery.
Police were notified of a hold-up alarm at a TD branch in the area of The Queensway and Kipling Road at 7:30 Saturday morning.
When police arrived, they encountered a masked man armed with a handgun.
Police said "an interaction" took place and a man was shot twice. He was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
Police remain outside they bank as they attempt to determine if more suspects are inside.
The province's Special Investigations Unit has been called in to examine the circumstances of the shooting.
Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call 416-808-2200 or submit an anonymous to tip Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
