Visitor restrictions are currently in place at the Harbour View Hospital in Sydney Mines, N.S.

The restrictions were put in place after a flu-like illness spread among residents in the veterans unit, which contains 28 beds.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority says visitors must wash their hands before and after visiting and only visit one resident at a time. All visitors must be immediate family and no children under 12 are currently permitted.

The restrictions are only in place for the veterans unit. Visitors are still able to access the rest of the hospital.

A spokesperson for the Health Authority says additional cleaning is being done. Both Infection, Prevention and Control as well as Public Health Services are monitoring the situation.
