A family has been forced out of their home after it caught fire overnight.

Extensive damage has been done to one area of the house and now the residents are waiting to see when they can return.

Fortunately, everyone got out safely, including the two family dogs. The fire seems to have started in the laundry room area and is not being considered suspicious.

Crews responded to the home on East 48 Avenue, west of Boundary Road, around 1 a.m.

Firefighters worked quickly to put out the flames.
