Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina's football allegiances were tested on New Year's Day when No. 6 Stanford faced No. 5 Iowa in the Rose Bowl.
Fiorina graduated from Stanford in 1976, but Iowa is an important state in the presidential nomination process. So, in a blatant show of pandering, Fiorina decided to back the Hawkeyes ahead of the Feb. 1 caucus.
People saw right through it.
Fiorina's backing didn't seem to help the Hawkeyes, though, as Cardinal running back Christian McCaffrey torched Iowa early. And since Twitter never disappoints, a clever hashtag started.
