Rickard Rakell didn't mean to drop jaws Sunday.

Rakell scored an amazing goal off a mid-air deflection in the Anaheim Ducks' 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings were leading 2-1 early in the second period when Rakell tipped Shea Theodore's shot past goaltender Jonathan Quick withoutfacing the goal.

During the second intermission, Rakell told Fox Sports he wasn't trying to redirect the puck specifically at the top corner.

"I just saw the puck coming up behind me and tried to get something on it," Rakell said, according USA Today. "I was surprised to see it go in."

Sometimes the best shots are the ones you never intend to take, as Rakell proved.
