The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins are bitter rivals on the ice, but away from it, they're coming together for a good cause.
The Canadiens held a pregame ceremony honoring Laing prior to Tuesday's matchup, and the video tribute served a dual purpose to promote the jersey auction being held.
Before the video, Bell Center public address announcer Michael Lacroix made the following announcement in both French and English:
"Fans, tonight your Canadiens are working together with the NHL and Boston Bruins to support a member of our Hockey Family -- Denna Laing.
As a member of the NWHL Boston Pride, and one of the pioneers in a breakthrough moment for her sport, Denna Laing participated in the Outdoor Women's Classic. Tragically, Denna suffered a severe injury playing the sport she loves.
You can join your Canadiens, the NHL and the Bruins in supporting Denna by bidding on game worn jerseys from tonight's game. 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Denna Laing Fund. Visit AUCTIONS.NHL.COM/DENNALAING or DENNALAINGFUND.ORG."
Check out the entire tribute in the video above.
