The New York Jets are pretty good at finding creative ways to screw things up. But Willie Colon raised the bar again Sunday.
Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, leading his team on a nice drive against the New York Giants, completed a 17-yard pass to Eric Decker in second quarter to move his team deep into Giants territory.
Yet that gain was negated by a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct assessed to the Jets' bench. The culprit? Jets offensive lineman Willie Colon.
He's on injured reserve.
The 32-year-old guard, who's never been afraid to run his mouth, should have absolutely zero impact on this game, but he somehow managed to do something dumb by jawing with Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
The Jets covered for Colon's mistake, though, as Fitzpatrick found Bilal Powell for a 29-yard touchdown pass to convert the drive into points.
