Club America's and TP Mazembe's hopes of a world championship ended at the start of their respective journeys. Both are looking to leave Japan with some restored pride.

Club America will face TP Mazembe on Wednesday at the Osaka Nagai Stadium in Osaka, Japan for fifth place in the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup. The one-off game will decide whether the CONCACAF's flag flies a little higher than that of CAF in the final reckoning of this year's intercontinental club competition.

African champion TP Mazembe fell to Japanese champion Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-0 on Sunday in the quarterfinal round.
Club America lost 1-0 to Guangzhou Evergrande in their quarterfinal.

The fifth-place game of the 2015 Club World Cup will be the first-ever meeting between Club America and TP Mazembe. Neither side is likely to forget what FIFA describes as "the game they didn't want" any time soon.

When: Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 2:30 a.m. ET
