The Red Sox confirmed Tuesday that former third baseman Frank Malzone has died at age 85. Malzone spent 11 seasons with Boston from 1955 to 1965. Malzone, who also played one season with the California Angels in 1966, earned six All-Star selections and three Gold Gloves with the Red Sox. He finished his career with a .274 average, 133 home runs, 728 RBIs and a .714 OPS in 1,441 games. This is the second bit of unfortunate Red Sox news this week, as former Boston outfielder Dave Henderson died over the weekend at age 57.
