Connor Cook celebrated a major accomplishment with what some saw as a blatant sign of disrespect.

But the Michigan State quarterback insists he didn't mean it that way.

Cook's Spartans had just defeated Iowa 16-13 in the Big Ten Championsip Game on Saturday night to punch their ticket to the College Football Playoff. In the festivities that followed, the Michigan State quarterback was called to the podium to accept the game's MVP trophy from two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin.

Here's how that went:

At first glance, this is a pretty bad look. How could Cook not give the time of day to one of the best college football players of all time? Is it because Griffin went to Ohio State??

Shortly after the game, however, Cook took to social media to apologize and set the record straight.

We're on Cook's side here, as we can imagine his head was spinning in the aftermath of Saturday's dramatic finish.
