The NHL changed the faceoff rules this season in an attempt to create more offense, and the Boston Bruins put that change into action Saturday.

Under the new rule, the player defending the zone has to put their stick on the puck first, giving the offensive player a good chance to win it. And the Bruins did just that midway through the first period against the Florida Panthers.

Boston center Ryan Spooner won the faceoff and sent the puck to Torey Krug, who fired it back to Spooner for a goal. The score put the Bruins up 1-0 en route to an eventual 3-1 win over the Panthers.
