Ken Whisenhunt didn't win much at all in Tennessee, and it cost him his job Tuesday.

The Titans fired Whisenhunt midway through his second season at the helm, and promoted Mike Mularkey to interim head coach. The Titans are entering their bye week with a 1-6 record and were 3-20 under Whisenhunt who was hired prior to the 2014 season.

"fter thoughtful consideration, the decision has been made to relieve Ken Whisenhunt of his head coaching duties,"Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement released by the team. "We have expected more progress on the field, and I felt it was time to move in a different direction. I would like to thank Ken for his efforts with our team, as he worked very hard to try to move us forward."

Whisenhunt actually hasn't done a whole lot of winning anywhere in his last three season. Prior to Tennessee, Whisenhunt was the Arizona Cardinals' head coach. The high point of that tenure was a Super Bowl berth. However, things came crashing down in what would be his final season, 2012, when the Cardinals lost 11 of their final 12 games after a 4-0 start. So, counting his 3-20 record with the Titans, Whisenhunt's won just four of his last 35 games.
