DMAX is a new student organization that wants to offer resources to students who are dealing with mental health issues.

Junior Ben Kleinman is starting an organization on campus in honor of one of his friends.

"I had a good friend in high school his name was Dan Maxwell, and he passed away," Kleinman said. "He took his life due to mental health issues that he never spoke out about."

Kleinman said that this organization is just what Elon students need right now.

"Obviously Elon is going through a tough time and I think that it is important to reach out to others who need help and DMAX will be here for students who need to reach out for help."

The topic of mental health is an important one for Klienman and he hopes to create an environment where students feel welcome and safe.

"We're not going to be offering advice but it's just going to be really people talking to each other in an open environment," he said. "We are going to have food there, and it's just a way to tell people about your day and what's going on and just have conversations."

The organization is still in the process of forming, but Klienman said that they already have an executive board and plan to have an interest meeting after Thanksgiving break.
