The Kansas City Royals are the 2015 World Series Champion.

Kansas City defeated the New York Mets in Game 5 of the Fall Classic 7-2 in 12 innings following a five-run top of the 12th. KC takes the series four games to one.

The Mets led 2-0 heading into the top of the ninth inning, but Mets manager Terry Collins left an adamant Matt Harvey in the game, who had been dominant with eight shutout innings of work. He collapsed, giving up the game-tying runs.

In the 12th, catcher Salvador Perez led off with a single and was pinch-run for by Jarrod Dyson. Dyson stole second base during Alex Gordon's at-bat, took third on the ensuing ground out, and then scored the World Series-winning run on a base hit by Christian Colon.

Alcides Escobar's double scored Colon to extend the lead, but KC put the nails in the coffin when Lorenzo Cain hit a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double to make it 7-2.
