The Cleveland Browns clearly weren't happy with quarterback Johnny Manziel's bye-week party video.
The former starter, demoted to third-string following his most recent incident, allegedly was demoted because he lied to his coaches about what happened, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.
Manziel apparently told Browns coach Mike Pettine that the video was outdated and did not happen during the team's bye week, and then asked friends to lie to the Browns when they did an investigation, according to FOX.
Pettine reportedly told Manziel before leaving town that he needed to act in a "responsible manner, one befitting a starting NFL quarterback," Glazer added.
ESPN's Pat McManamon confirmed the report, but cited a league source in adding that Manziel might have kept his starting job had he not lied about what happened.
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport had a slightly different spin on the story, though, reporting that the Browns asked Manziel to stay in town lay low around the team's facility during the bye week. When that didn't happen, the team felt "betrayed," according to Rapoport.
