After losing a hard-fought battle to the New England Patriots in Week 7, the New York Jets sought to bounce back in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders.
Here's how Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith and the Jets' quarterback group got fired up for that contest:
If that doesn't inspire excellence, we don't know what does.
As expected for any team whose quarterbacks endure such a lame pre-game speech, New York came out flat and ended up losing 34-20 for its second consecutive defeat.
To make matters worse, both Fitzpatrick and Smith suffered injuries against Oakland, with Fitzpatrick tearing a ligament in his left thumb and Smith bruising his left shoulder.
We're not saying the pre-game poem was responsible for all of this, but the Jets might want to mix it up when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday.
