Some were worried whether the New England Patriots would show their offensive dominance against the New York Jets' No. 1 ranked scoring defense Sunday, but the Pats played their cards right and ended up with the 30-23 win.

And former New England linebacker Tedy Bruschi said on WEEI's "Dale & Holley" that was no problem thanks to the Patriots relying on Tom Brady.

"Their best player is their quarterback," Bruschi said Monday. "What would they rather have? Would they have them pound their heads into a brick wall and try and run the ball? Or, 'We have this guy at the quarterback, we have some competitors at the wide receiver position, let's try and hit them with this. Yes, they are a great defensive team, but we're going put our faith in the best that we got and that's Tom Brady.'"

The Patriots barely ran the ball Sunday -- Brady also was the team's leading rusher with 15 yards -- and instead relied on an air attack that got them the results they wanted. But unfortunately, Bruschi said New England can't really enjoy its win over its rival thanks to another division game coming up Thursday against the Miami Dolphins.

"It's tough because usually the week after you beat the Jets, it's a good couple days because of the rivalry and because the coaches enjoy beating the New York Jets," Bruschi said. "There's more of a good mood from the coaching staff watching the film and into the workouts and the day off, but all of that is gone now. There's no good feeling, and I'm sure they've already turned the page."
