FOXBORO, Mass. -- Generally, a quarterback should be ready to receive the ball when it's snapped, but the Miami Dolphins apparently forgot this basic bit of football knowledge.

The Dolphins had the ball on their own 9-yard line on the first drive of the second quarter against the New England Patriots on Thursday when all hell broke loose. Miami center Mike Pouncey snapped the ball without Ryan Tannehill knowing, and the quarterback fumbled the football and landed in the end zone for a safety.

And Tannehill's reaction to the botched snap said it all.

The safety put the Patriots up 9-0 and very likely turned Tannehill into a meme.
