The New England Patriots brought versatile lineman Jared Smith to Gillette Stadium for a workout Tuesday, according to a source.

Smith was selected in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of the University of New Hampshire as an offensive guard. Smith played defensive tackle in college, racking up 40 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and four sacks as a senior in 2012.

Smith ran a 5.08-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2013 with an impressive 7.20-second 3-cone drill and 4.39-second short shuttle.

The 6-foot-4, 302-pound lineman spent his rookie season with the Seahawks on the practice squad and injured reserve before being released in July 2014 with an injury settlement. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons this offseason and was waived Sept. 4.
