It wouldn't be a week in the NFL without a star player going down.
The latest victim of the NFL injury bug was Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who left Sunday's game with what the team fears is a torn ACL. That's obviously very bad news both for the Chiefs and for Charles' fantasy owners, as only Devonta Freeman has more fantasy points among NFL running backs this season.
Fortunately, help is on the way for those who drafted Charles, although it might not necessarily come from usual backup Knile Davis. Check out who could fill the void for Charles -- as well as some other key Week 6 waiver wire adds -- below.
Quarterback: Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars
Who threw the most touchdown passes in Week 5? That'd be Bortles, who connected for four TDs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A performance like that obviously is an outlier, but the Jaguars have been throwing the ball a ton, and the matchup is good at home against a Houston Texans defense that's given up the sixth-most points to opposing quarterbacks in standard-scoring leagues this season.
Other QBs to consider: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Teddy Bridgewater, Josh McCown, Colin Kaepernick
Running Back, Charcandrick West, Kansas City Chiefs
After Charles went down with an injury Sunday, it was West, not Knile Davis, who received the bulk of the workload for the rest of the game.
Head coach Andy Reid played coy after the game, telling reporters West and Davis will split carries in Charles' absence. West is a relative unknown, signing with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2014 out of Abilene Christian, but it appears they like him slightly more than Davis at this point.
Neither will put up Charles-esque numbers, especially if this develops into a timeshare. For now, though, West is your best bet.
Other RBs to consider: Knile Davis, Shane Vereen, Boobie Dixon, Antonio Andrews
Wide Receiver: Willie Snead, New Orleans Saints
Snead has developed into Drew Brees' clear No. 2 target behind Brandin Cooks, making him a must-own in standard leagues.
The 22-year-old saw 11 targets against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday and converted those into six catches for 141 yards. He's only hauled in one touchdown pass so far, but the matchup still is good Thursday night against an Atlanta Falcons team that's allowed three 100-yard receivers already this season.
Other WRs to consider: Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn Jr., Kamar Aiken, Eric Decker
Tight End: Larry Donnell, New York Giants
Did you see that catch he made Sunday night?
We can't expect Donnell to make the highlight reel every week, but Daniel Fells on injured reserve with a MRSA infection, he should see a bump in targets as the team's primary tight end. He's still available in about 50 percent of leagues, so go out and grab him if you need help at the tight end position.
Other TEs to consider: Gary Barnidge, Derek Carrier, Garrett Celek
