David Wright was having a postseason to forget.

The New York Mets third baseman was batting .171 with only seven hits in 41 at-bats heading into Game 3 of the World Series against the Kansas City Royals. But the captain came through in a big way during the Mets' 9-3 win over the Royals at Citi Field.

Wright hit his first home run of the playoffs during the first inning, and he later drove in two more runs during the Mets' four-run sixth inning.

Kansas City now holds a two-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven series.
