A quick glance at the box score doesn't tell the entire story of the Boston Bruins' 6-2 opening night loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

Coach Claude Julien was happy with Boston's efforts on offense. Though the team only found the back of the net twice, the B's put 31 shots on net and created several terrific scoring chances.

But while Julien was happy with what he described as a "step in the right direction," he admitted the defense fell away from what they want to do in the process.
