Former Boston University hockey player Travis Roy joined NESN's Tom Caron on "Red Sox First Pitch" on Thursday to tell his story.

Roy was left paralyzed from the neck down by a freak injury in his first game with the Terriers. Now it is his mission to help others who have suffered spinal cord injuries through the Travis Roy Foundation.

The foundation will hold "A Night For Travis Roy" on Oct. 20 at Agganis Arena at 6 p.m. ET on the 20th anniversary of the accident.

You can hear more from Roy in the video above.
