Eduardo Rodriguez's rookie season has had its ups and downs, but one thing is abundantly clear: He can do more than just survive in the big leagues. He can thrive.
Boston Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo stressed that point to reporters before Rodriguez's final start of the season Monday, as seen on NESN's "Red Sox Gameday Live."
"After today he's going to be done for the year," Lovullo said. "He pitched the complete year and he deserves some down time. ... Everything he's done up to this point in time, his name is right in the middle of our talks. He deserves a lot of consideration to be one of our mainstays next year."
