Torey Lovullo reiterated Sunday what had been subtly discussed the past few weeks: The Boston Red Sox are planning on rolling out two "bullpen" games before the season closes to help alleviate innings on their young crop of pitchers.

The "bullpen" game refers to what you might see during spring training -- a reliever starting a game, going two or three innings, and being replaced by another reliever who also will pitch two or three innings in lieu of a normal starting pitcher.

The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham joined NESN's Tom Caron on "Red Sox Gameday Live" before Sunday's series finale against the Jays. While the Red Sox don't know exactly when those "bullpen" games will come, Lovullo suggested it wouldn't be against the New York Yankees, out of respect for the pennant race New York is in.
