It was a rough night at the plate for the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Rick Porcello pitched seven-plus solid innings, but the Boston lineup failed to give him much run support in its 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.
"He was just mixing his pitches well with his speeds, especially with his breaking ball and his offspeed," third baseman Deven Marrero said on "Red Sox Final" after Wednesday's loss. "We tried to battle him today and we just couldn't get that big hit today. we just needed to get just a couple of runs with how great Porcello was pitching, and we just didn't come through."
