With the Boston Red Sox shutting down many of their starting pitchers, it's time too look for some in-house help to finish off the season.
The Red Sox previously expressed a desire to utilize a six-man rotation, but due to injuries the team doesn't have enough starting pitchers to go around. To help alleviate that issue, the Boston Globe's Peter Abraham suggests they will use the bullpen for spot starts as a makeshift "sixth starter" for the remainder of the season.
Abraham and NESN's Tom Caron discussed the potential moves on "Red Sox Gameday Live" before Wednesday's series finale in Baltimore.
"It sounds like Sunday in Toronto they'll use the bullpen," Abraham explained. "Some combination of Craig Breslow to start, maybe Jonathan Aro to start. Those guys have the ability to go two or three innings and just kind of patch it together from there."
Here more from Caron and Abraham in the video above.
