The Boston Red Sox will be gunning for a fourth straight win Monday when they open a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays as +115 home underdogs at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Red Sox continued the strong play that earned them a 15-12 record during August -- their first winning month since April -- with a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend.

With those victories, Boston enters Monday's Blue Jays vs. Red Sox betting matchup at Fenway Park with a 37-34 home record this season, and it has pulled within one game of the sinking Baltimore Orioles for fourth place in the America League East.

The Blue Jays wrapped up their weekend series with Baltimore on Sunday by handing the Orioles a 10-4 beating, claiming their fifth straight series win and maintaining their perch atop the AL East at 1 1/2 games up on the New York Yankees.

Toronto has been nearly unstoppable in the five weeks since the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, posting a 21-6 record last month to equal the AL record for best winning percentage in August of .778, which was set by the Yankees in 1938.

The Blue Jays' run production this season is also tops in baseball, currently outpacing New York by 88 runs, and has contributed to their strong position as 7/2 World Series betting favorites at the sportsbooks.

However, Toronto has produced mixed results against the Red Sox this season, dropping three of four to Boston at the Rogers Centre after earning a sweep at Fenway in June.

Overall, the Red Sox are just 4-11 in their last 15 home dates against Toronto, according to the OddsShark MLB Database, and have surrendered 11 or more runs in three of the Blue Jays' last five visits.

Following Wednesday night's series finale, the Red Sox hit the road for nine games, kicked off by a three-game weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Rays have remained in the postseason conversation, opening the week just 4 1/2 games back of the Texas Rangers for the second AL Wild Card, but are coming off a disappointing visit to the Bronx this weekend, dropping two of three to the Yankees to fall to 5-8 in their past 13 games.
