Boston Red Sox rookie Henry Owens had his best night pitching in the major leagues.

The tall left-hander was calm, cool and collected all night as he helped lead the Red Sox to a 10-1 victory against the Baltimore Orioles. Owens went 7 2/3 innings, striking out four and only allowing six hits.

The offense was clicking on all cylinders as well. Big nights for David Ortiz and Dustin Pedrioa helped ignite the team, which put three runs on the board in the third inning and five runs in the fourth. Each went 2-4 with Pedroia blasting two home runs and Ortiz adding one himself.

Owens told reporters in Baltimore that he didn't have the best pregame bullpen session, but he and catcher Blake Swihart quickly got on the same page.

"The offense came out and got a big lead early so I got comfortable and threw strikes," Owens explained.
