Hector Moreno can sympathize and empathize with Luke Shaw.
Moreno apologized Tuesday for his tackle that broke Shaw's leg in PSV's UEFA Champions League win over Manchester United earlier in the evening. Moreno said his tackle was clean and he did not mean to injure Shaw.
"I don't know what happened, I don't remember," Moreno said, according to The Telegraph. "I just feel really bad because I was involved in the accident. I feel really sorry.
"I think not (that it was a foul)," Moreno said when asked if his tackle should have been called a foul. I think I played the ball, but in this kind of situation I don't care if it was a foul, I feel bad for him, for his family."
Moreno suffered a broken leg at the 2014 FIFA World Cup while making a tackle in Mexico's loss to the Netherlands in the Round of 16. Moreno, 27, missed five month of action while recovering from the injury.
"I don't know how bad it is," Moreno said. "I had myself that situation like that during the World Cup and it's bad. It's difficult to say what happened. Now I just hope he will be back as soon as possible."
Moreno issued a second apology to Shaw on Twitter.
Shaw, 20, underwent surgery on a double fracture of his leg at a hospital in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Manchester United's medical staff hope the injury will rule Shaw out of action for just six months.
