The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced Wednesday the seizure of close to 118 kilograms of suspected cocaine at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The agency said the drugs were discovered during a routine cargo examination of an aircraft arriving from Mexico on January 17.

CBSA officers were able to locate two large wooden crates with 100 brick-shaped bundles inside, which was revealed to contain a white powder.

The contents were later turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

In 2015, the CBSA in the Greater Toronto Area made 149 cocaine seizures totaling close to 700 kg.
