WINNIPEG -- Winnipeg Police confirm the Homicide Unit is now involved in the Cooper Nemeth case but say it is to helping with "the amount of information coming in," according to a police news release.

Police said the unit's role provides additional help in resources and is not a confirmation on Nemeth's whereabouts or status.

The case remains classified as a missing person investigation.

Family and friends have re-iterated the same message on their website, FindCip.com

They have asked supporters and searchers to ignore "rumors and speculation out there" and "please don't let them take hold.

The search continues for the seventh day on Saturday.
